Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they still have a chance to win back the Ashes once the opening games are done.

This is not the case during this tour, after Australia's crushing 82-run win in Adelaide gave Australia 3-0 up for the fourth straight contest on home turf.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group traveling for the concluding fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

In addition, there are tour groups who will spend the Christmas period down under, as well as relatives and companions embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are among those affected.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "a full year in advance", dreaming of a historic English victory.

From afar, they've seen Australia outplay the visitors in just 11 days from their house in the north of England.

"All my colleagues has been giving me grief that the series is done for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line still when we got there."

Diminishing Hope

Hope was abundant concerning a potential victory of securing a first win in 15 years for a series win in Australia ahead of the tour.

Yet now they are looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The England team - and their fans - will be hoping to sidestep a clean sweep.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in the past couple of seasons had "reinvigorated" Test cricket for English supporters.

But the Ryding siblings said they had realistic outlooks for the final two games - and all they are requesting from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all hinges on psychological strength. 'This style has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"During a long match, you should hunker down. Wafting outside 'outside the line has never been in the fundamentals, and that is primarily due to the top order."

The Remaining Matches

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in this contest, came the reply: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"It will require several individuals that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Even with the series lost, the group remains looking forward to the trip.

"We will have a great time nonetheless," added another sibling. "Our approach is that attitude."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."

"We'll enjoy celebrating the holidays overseas. This will be our first experience abroad during the festive period."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I've got golf to turn to," Katie concluded.
