Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
