Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
