Trio Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Honour

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
The three finalists have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.
Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The finalists were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.
The 2025 recipient will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.
The event will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.
Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.
Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.
His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Perrin's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin came in second place in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
